We had a simpler Halloween than usual this year. When I asked the kids what they wanted to be, only two of them could come up with an idea for a costume. M said she wanted to be a Bee, so I found a pattern and purchased fabric and notions, then sent it all with her to her sewing class! It was stress-relieving for me, not to worry about making her costume, but also a confidence boost for her. She was able to make her costume and show it off to everyone at our ward's Trunk-or-Treat!AM said he wanted to be Mario (from the videogame), so his costume was simply a matter of finding a red shirt and hat. He wanted overalls too, but I couldn't find them anywhere in a size larger than toddler, so he had to make do without overalls.
The younger children each carve a pumpkin the weekend before Halloween. My brother, Dave, also brought his two little children to our house and he carved a pumpkin for them (the spider design).
